Genealogy at a Glance: Italian Genealogy Research

This is one of a series of four-page laminated genealogy aids called "Genealogy at a Glance." They are meant to be transported or to sit by your computer as you work, giving you access to the latest information in specific areas of research. Each booklet in the series is formatted the same way with variations where relevant.

What will you find inside?

After a discussion of Italian immigration and social history, the author goes on to present information on typical migration and settlement patterns and social customs of Italian immigrants to the U.S. She includes sections on searching both American and Italian records, using a wide variety of sources, and short lists of both books and websites that could be potentially useful.

How is the book formatted?

The first page has a table of contents and a colorful box of "Quick Facts and Important Dates." Major sections include "Italian Immigration and Social History," "Starting Your Search in America," "Finding the Italian Town of Origin," "Research in Italian Civil Records," and "Online Sources." Each has a list of sub-topics. Like others in this series, there is a huge amount of information included in the four pages, but it is attractively laid out and easy to read.
