The St. Louis probate records dating from 1802 to 1900 are available online at Missouri Archives St. Louis Probate Records. The Archives filmed and digitized the original records.

In the future, St. Louis City probate records after 1900 will be available online and on microfilm. Currently, Missouri Archives and St. Louis County Library Special Collections have the St. Louis City probate alphabetical card index, which lists the probate cases from 1890 to 1989. The cards include the name of the deceased, the file number, and the date of filing.

St. Louis County probate records, starting in 1890 to approximately 1989, are available on microfiche at St. Louis County Library. The St. Louis County probate cases dating from 1877 to 1890 are indexed; however, this index is currently available only on microfilm.
