He was brought to this city and placed under medical treatment at No.41 Levee, but died at 9 o'clock in the evening. The physicians in attendance gave a certificate as to the cause of his death, and an inquest was not held.

Bielberg, Henry B416 9 Aug 1861 Henry Bielberg, a wagoner was attacked with sun stroke at the corner of Third and Elm streets, at 5 o'clock last evening, and fell to the sidewalk in a state of apparent insensibility. Buckets of water were dashed upon him, and in a short time he was restored to consciousness and removed to his boarding house.

Blum, Joseph B450 7 Jul 1858 Joseph Blum, a German, omnibus driver, 20 years of age was found yesterday, near the stables on Franklin avenue, between Twenty-Fifth and Twenty Sixth streets, laboring under a stroke of the sun. Medical aid was promptly called and the customary remedies used with but little evidence of success. The sufferer was taken to the City Hospital where at our last accounts, he was still insensible, with few symptoms favorable to his recovery.

Boland, Anthony B453 5 Aug 1861 The Coroner held an inquest of: Anthony Boland, a tailor living in an alley between Carr and Wash and Tenth and Eleventh streets, went home yesterday after having been out during the heated part of the day. The room he lived in was a low attic, and the air exceedingly close, and as soon as he entered, he was attacked with the usual symptoms attending illness from heat, and expired in a few minutes. The deceased leaves a wife to whom he had been married only a week.
Bothe, Harry B300 20 Jul 1859 Harry Bothe, a carpenter, at No. 85 Clark avenue, on Monday night danced, sang, drank and retired to sleep in a heated attic room. He was found dead in the morning.
Boyle, Ann B400 23 Aug 1860 Ann Boyle, a cook at the Delavan House performed her usual tasks up to about 2:30 p.m. (Saturday), when she suddenly fainted, and in a few minutes was a corpse.
Brand, William Julius B653 20 Jul 1857 Inquest held yesterday. On Garrison avenue, near Second Carondelet avenue, at a pond, on the body of William Julius Brand, twenty-two years of age. Breen, Margaret B650 7 Aug 1858 Margaret Breen, a native of Ireland, living on Tenth near Green street, was yesterday prostrated by sun stroke while at work in her house. She was removed to the Health Office, where the usual remedies were applied, and after partial recovery, she was conveyed to the City Hospital.
Brennan, James B655 29 Aug 1854 An inquest was held last Sunday on the body of James Brennan, an Irishman by birth, who was one of the hands working on the Clayton Road. He was six feet two inches high, had been missing since last Wednesday, and was found Sunday morning in the woods, his body was very much decomposed. Verdict of the jury, death from intemperance and exposure.
Brennan, Mary B655 23 Aug 1860 A young woman named Mary Brennan, having walked much during Saturday, at evening at the residence of her sister, No. 140 North Eleventh street, and soon sank into a state of alarming exhaustion from heat. All remedies proved unavailing, and she expired in about two hours.

Burns, Patrick B652 19 Jul 1864 On Sunday afternoon, Patrick Burns, a laboring man, was found dead in a small room in an alley between Fourth and Fifth and Elm and Myrtle. He was a single man thirty-two years of age and came to his death by congestion of the lungs, produced by heat and intemperance.
Burris, Jeremiah B620 20 Aug 1858 An inquest was held at his late residence, one mile and a half west of the Fair Grounds, on the body of Jeremiah Burris, a well known citizen, and for thirty years a resident of St. Louis. He was aged forty nine years, and leaves a wife and two children. During Wednesday he became excessively, heated by over exertion in the rays of the sun, and retired at night seriously ill. At three o'clock yesterday morning he arose from his bed, drew a blanket around him, and went into his yard, expressing an intention soon to return. He did not return: search was in vain made for him until daylight, and he was then found dead under a tree in some adjacent woods. A scientific examination of the corpse, resulted in the decision that he died of congestion of the brain.
Busche, Lucy, Miss B200 17 Jul 1863 Another case of sunstroke occurred yesterday, opposite of the Post Office. Miss Lucy Busche, residing at No. 30 Fifth street was struck down, rendering it necessary that she should be conveyed to her residence. Last evening she was deemed out of danger.
Buschman, Otto B255 28 Jul 1858 Otto Buschman, a laborer, was yesterday prostrated by the effects of the sun, on North Market street, near Fourteenth. The usual remedies were applied and the latest accounts the sufferer was recovering.

He is said to have lately done little but shore for liquor. At eleven A. M. on Friday, he was turned out of a grocery and seen to go under a tree and lie down. At five P. M. he was found to be dead. His age was forty-nine. He had been often at the workhouse, was originally a fine looking man. He has no relatives but a brother in New York.

Corcoran, Edward C626 6 Jul 1860 On Edward Corcoran, who on the 2nd was sent to the workhouse on a $10 fine for drunkenness. Wednesday, at 3 p. m., with the thermometer at 96 degrees Fahrenheit, he worked in the sun and drank a one draft pint of whiskey, after which he fell onto the ground and died in half an hour.

Engles, James E524 7 Jul 1860 James Engles, a young man from Inglefield, Fifeshire, Scotland, who had come to the city about a year ago, and was lately employed as a clerk in a commission house, No. 10 South Fourth street, died of the effects of sunstroke on Thursday. He had been indisposed for some time, and on Thursday exerted himself beyond his power in walking. He died at his boarding house, No. 90 South Second street.
