The Seneca Social Club had been picnicking at the Grove and Buehler, proprietor of a furniture car, was preparing to transfer some picnickers from the grove to Arsenal St. and Gravois Road, but asked for payment first. When he refused to start till paid, some of the young men tried to take the lines from him and in the fracas that followed he fell under the wheels; the crowd whipped up the horses; Buehler died almost instantly. He was 33, lived at 800 Ann Ave., left a wife and two children. None of the picknickers have been identified. |
